General Questions

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Chiropractic is one of the safest and most effective ways to deal with discomfort from musculoskeletal causes, especially headaches, neck pain and back pain (ask me about the research studies).

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

In Canada, Chiropractic is a point-of-entry healthcare option, meaning no one needs a referral to see a chiropractor.

Are chiropractors ‘Doctors’?

Chiropractors are full-fledged ‘doctors’. Our training, governance and licensure substantially mirrors that of MD’s and other professions with that designation, and we, likewise, hold a responsibility to diagnose.

Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

Chiropractic care is covered by most extended health benefits plans. While I don’t currently direct-bill insurance companies, the payment receipt issued after each appointment is easily submitted to patients’ insurance companies for reimbursement.

Care Specific Questions

Do Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt?

Adjustments may be noisy (think the sound of ‘cracking’ knuckles) but are almost never painful. In fact, they are far more often instantaneously relieving. And I always tell patients – let me know if you’re nervous; there’s almost always another option to achieve a similar result.

What Conditions will Chiropractic Care Help?

Chiropractors are often sought out (and have great results with), such concerns as back pain, neck pain and headaches. But don’t forget that, since we work with the nervous system and how it connects with all systems, organs and tissues, there’s a much wider possibility for positive affect. If you’re wondering ‘what about this?’, reach out and we can discuss specifics.

Will I Have to Conitinue Care Forever Once I Start?

No one, having started chiropractic care, is ‘obligated to continue going for life’. Many people, after achieving sustained relief, do choose a schedule of preventative care (similar to seeing a dentist, even when they don’t have cavities), but I will always collaborate with each individual patient to meet their unique wellness goals.

You Seem to Do Things Differently Than I Expected?

One of the beauties of chiropractic is that it’s a science+art+philosophy. That means there’s variation between practitioners – so it’s your privilege to find one that suits you best. If you have questions about what/why/how I’m doing something – just ask!
